Design Museum Academy Adult Workshop

Workshop: Fashion Sketching and Mask Making

Join this creative session to explore the design process by investigating a fashion icon’s practice through mask making and drawing.

What to expect

The legacy of Leigh Bowery, performance artist and fashion muse extraordinaire, will be explored, as well how character can be conveyed through design. Participants are encouraged to look at Leigh’s work, respond to art inspired by their practice in a guided visit to REBEL: 30 Years of London Fashion, and make unique mask creations.

In the afternoon session, the outcomes will then be styled as masks or accessories featured on a model in a SketchSesh boudoir life drawing session as focal points for an immersive creative experience, addressing illustration and its relationship with make-up and queerness.

PLEASE NOTE:

– The workshop includes a visit to REBEL: 30 Years of London Fashion sponsored by Alexander McQueen with James Davison.
– This workshop is open to anyone with an interest in fashion design and drawing.
– No experience is necessary.
– All materials and light refreshments will be provided for the duration of the workshop.
